Prevalent factors determining student choice of course in colleges

Kathy James Translate I hear what you are saying about peer pressure. It can be hard to make an informed independent choice when there are expectations from family and friends. Both my parents and my brother went to University in Sheffield in the UK, but when I was University age, I decided to get a job. There was a lot of pressure for me to attend university and four years later when I felt the time was right for me, I again chose not to be pressured to go to Sheffield but rather to a local University which was just as good. I felt that at the age of 22 years, I was better placed to learn to the standard that I wanted to. I was more focused and it worked out very well for me. I think that whether its about take some gap years or choosing a university or college, it has to be your own decision or it could become something you regret. Pre-independence and post-independence Nigerian education
One issue that students of education are often asked to debate is the systematic difference between pre-independence and post-independence Nigerian education. Scholars’ opinion varies as to whether a fundamental distinction exists between the two sy...

Samantha Chloe Translate Great one! While there are significant similarities between the pre-independence and post-independence education in Nigeria, I still have this feeling that the present education system and method of teaching have much more to offer when compared to the former. Ranging from the use of modern devices and instrument for teaching to a more conducive environment, the post-independence Nigerian education has more to offer. However, the two era still have some similarities to share. [] Great one! Zaynab Faysal Translate An extremely useful, in-depth analysis of the Nigerian pre and post-independence educational systems. From what I gather, the pre-independence educational system was more focused on keeping the societal norms intact, whereas, the post-independence is based on a more modern approach to education and work life. Lawan Dalha Translate Thank you for your comment @Zaynab Faysal. You're right; the pre-colonial school system was more conscious of the people's norms and culture.
